The principal one of these is the Loss Prevention and Security Techniques document which is a 15 page downloadable pamphlet packed full of crime reduction techniques, many of which are free and all of which are common sense measures that equipment owners and hirers should be using to protect their plant and equipment.
Equipment registration does not stop your plant and equipment being stolen, but by making the data available to the police 24/7 it can certainly offer opportunities to identify plant and equipment as it is circulating on the national roads network, passing though ports, or being offered for sale in auctions. TER registration costs a max of £100+VAT/year for your whole equipment fleet and you will find that your insurer will offer a significant discount on your premium.
