Stolen tractors found in Northern Ireland

Two New Holland tractors and one John Deere tractor, with a total value of £115,000, were seized by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) shortly before Christmas from a yard in Co Fermanagh.  The brand new New Holland tractors had been stolen from a dealer in Perthshire, while the John Deere, which was also brand new, was taken from a dealer in Yorkshire.

At the request of the PSNI, TER was able to assist with the identification of all three tractors.  A review of the theft data held by TER revealed a sharp rise in high value agricultural tractor thefts in the UK since late summer and most of them have been stolen from dealers.  This was combined with the theft of tractor engine management units which the criminals will have used to help give the stolen tractors a new identity.  The tractors were released by the PSNI and sold by TER.
